Georgian Bay National Park
Georgian Bay Islands National Park consists of 63 small islands or parts of islands in Georgian Bay, near Port Severn, Ontario. The total park area is approximately 13.5 km². Prior to the creation of Fathom Five National Marine Park, Flowerpot Island was also a part of the park.
Awenda Provincial Park
Awenda Provincial Park is a provincial park in Tiny Township, Ontario, Canada, located on a peninsula jutting into Georgian Bay north of Penetanguishene. The park occupies an area of 29.15 square kilometres. It is classified as a Natural Environment Park and therefore all land is protected.
Wye Marsh
Open year round, Wye Marsh is an excellent place to get outdoors and get close to nature. Situated on 3,000 acres of National and Provincial Wildlife Area, the centre is teaming with fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities. From trumpeter swans to painted turtles there is always something to see from the 25 km of trails and boardwalks. We also offer naturalist guided tours and programs that will take you into the marsh.
Martyr's Shrine
The Martyrs' Shrine is a Roman Catholic church in Midland, Ontario, Canada, which is consecrated to the memory of the Canadian Martyrs, six Jesuit Martyrs and two lay persons from the mission of Sainte-Marie among the Hurons. It is one of nine national shrines in Canada, including, among others, St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal and the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.
Six Mile Lake
Six Mile Lake Provincial Park is located in Ontario near Georgian Bay on Six Mile Lake. Popular features of the park include hiking trails and three beaches. There is an abundance of wildlife, including walking sticks and five-lined skinks.
Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons
Sainte-Marie among the Hurons was a French Jesuit settlement in Wendake, the land of the Wendat, near modern Midland, Ontario, from 1639 to 1649. It was the first European settlement in what is now the province of Ontario. Eight missionaries from Sainte-Marie were martyred and were canonized by the Catholic Church in 1930.
Discovery Harbour
Discovery Harbour traces its roots back to the original British naval and military base in Penetanguishene, built to safeguard access to Upper Canada after the War of 1812. "His Majesty's Naval Establishment on Lake Huron", kept ships prepared to supply British posts to the northwest. By 1820, it was home to over 70 people, including sailors, officers, shipwrights, and soldiers
Huronia Museum
The Huronia Museum is located in Midland, Ontario, Canada. The museum consists of the museum building and the Huron/Ouendat village. The museum is open year-round and has nearly one million objects and receives some 20,000 visitors each year.
S.S. Keewatin
Open in 2019 from May 14 to Oct 12, every day. Built in the same period as RMS TITANIC, to similar standards on a smaller scale, S.S. KEEWATIN is the world's last surviving Edwardian era passenger steamship. The best of an age was captured in her, and most of it remains intact.
